Well I have got a new job at the hotel. Since the Germans have left I had to fill in their spot. Initially I started in the kitchen to help the chef and prepare stuff. But now I have become a waiter and a bartender. It is quite funny though because I don’t know anything about alcoholic beverages.

I had to work in two shifts. The morning and the evening shifts. In the morning I have to wake up at 7 o’clock to prepare the breakfast for the guests. It takes about 3 hours the breakfast shift. Afterwards I am off until 5 pm. Then I have to be a bartender and waiter at the same time. Because I didn’t have any knowledge of alcoholic drinks, I asked the customers to point out what they want. It took me about a week maybe to master it.

Being a waiter sucks. Especially the dinner shift. It was the first time that I had to deal directly with complaining customers. And to be honest, I really didn’t know what to say. I was like please talk to the chef I have no idea what you’ve ordered and what it’s supposed to taste like. They say that Dutch people complain a lot but man here is next level. I must say the people at the bar were pretty nice. We talked about everything and they had lovely stories to tell.

I get a lot of questions from my friends and family: what is the weather like? Well, it’s getting better now. Although I’m not planning to go hiking merely because I haven’t brought the right shoes. And of course I have vertigo. So when I climb a mountain I’ll get dizzy and lose my balance.

To be honest, I some fast-food. Back home it’s like everywhere but here I’ve to go to Keswick which is like an hour from here to get some fast-food. Now I’m here I do feel blessed that I live in the Netherlands.
