On Thursday I took the earliest train to London. After five hours I was finally in London. Michaela Community College gave me the permission to visit the school on Friday. The next day I went to the school. The first impression I had from the school that it was quite a big school. But once at the reception I had to wait for some other people.

There were four other teachers visiting the school. We had a student guide who took guided us the entire day. I had the chance to talk to the students, observe different lessons and have break together with the students. The guide took us to observe several lessons for about 10 minutes. The first lesson was an English class. I had the chance to have a look at their material. What I liked was that they had a syllabus of famous British poets. After each period the students would have a test about the poets and their poetry.

Then we proceeded to the art class. This one was my favourite because I am an artist as well. I really appreciated their artwork and acknowledged their creativity. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to have a conversation with the students who drew all the artwork.

Michaela Community College has been voted as the strictest school in Britain. In all honesty, I second that opinion. The school is very autocrat. The students have to line up outside and a teacher instructs loudly what they have to do. Afterwards they march towards their class. It is very well organised which amazed me the most. I found it quite odd because the students didn’t have an actual lunchbreak. During the break the students were got assignments to finish and the break would be over once the assignment was done. I thanked the guide who guided us until the lunchbreak and we were off.
