It’s been almost two months since I left my home. I have experienced a lot of things in these two months. Initially I had planned to come here with another classmate of mine but he changed his mind and didn’t come. Since then I’ve been all alone but luckily Romee joined me too. Together with Romee, we went to buy Lake District guides from the tourist information centre.

Romee and I planned to visit a few places which are Lake District’s landmark. The first place we visited was the Dove Cottage. It is the house of the famous poet William Wordsworth and Dorothy Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808. Dove Cottage forms part of a complex administered by the Wordsworth Trust. In the house were tours and we were guided by them.

After visiting the Dove Cottage we decided to interview a few locals. It is quite difficult to find locals in Grasmere. Most of the people are tourists. So we went to look for local people. Finally we found one in a shop and asked for her permission to record the interview but unfortunately she declined. Luckily she did agree to interview her.

As for my school project, I visited at least ten schools in London. Although it appeared to be difficult to approach but I still keep my hopes up. At least two schools sent me an email and were considering approval for my request. At the moment the schools have bank holiday until the 16th of April. So I have to wait for another week for their email.

In the mean time I’ll visit a few places in Lake District which are relevant to my research. This week I have only visited one place. The rest of the week days the weather was loathsome. It rained from dawn till sunset and we had no choice but to stay indoors. The hotel has accepted two new workawayers. This means I can make new friends. The last week another workawayer left us and luckily we have two new ones.

Let’s hope that the schools in London approve my request and get done with this project. Fingers crossed!!
